This Handbook provides guidance to students undertaking a Major Project in the architecture, planning, urban regeneration and environmental management subject areas in the Faculty of Society and Development, Sheffield Hallam University. The programme of study contains two separate parts: • a preliminary module, entitled Applied Research Methods (15 M level credit points); and • the Major Project itself (45 M level credit points) comprising either a predominantly written dissertation or a created output, hereby known as an ‘artefact’. This guide, which you must read fully, provides information on: – The context and rationale for the Major Project; – Its relationship to the Applied Research Methods module – The timetable of work – The aims and assessment of the work – The preparation of the research project. – Format of the work. – Content of the work.
